Company History

Founded in 1980, Kawartha Moving & Storage is proudly Peterborough-owned and operated. Our facility was not affected by Peterborough's 2004 flood.

Our focus has shifted to 100% on secure, indoor self-storage as we've discontinued our moving service to better serve our community with our core storage offerings.

Packing & Storage Tips

Best Practices

  • Use manageable box sizes; liquor store boxes with dividers are good for glassware/nick-knacks
  • Reinforce box bottoms with packing tape
  • Place heavy items at the bottom, fill boxes to capacity (but don't overstuff)
  • Use bubble wrap, newspaper, tissue paper, towels, and blankets for packing and padding
  • Label all boxes clearly: indicate contents, room, fragile status, arrows for "this side up," and which boxes to load last
  • Electronics: use original boxes, remove and label cables, secure screws and small parts in bags taped to equipment
  • Dishes: wrap and pack on their sides, glasses upright, pad all box sides
  • Furniture: cover with old sheets/blankets for dust and scratch protection
  • Locks provided, or use your own for storage units (save $10 if you use your own lock)

Customers are responsible to place their own Content Insurance on their storage locker to cover their contents. We assume NO liability for damage to contents.
